Why there is no cookie banner
A consent banner exists to ask permission for storage that is not strictly necessary: analytics, advertising, profiling. We use none of those, so there is nothing to ask about. Showing a banner anyway would be theatre.
Concretely, loading a page on this site does not place a cookie in your browser, does not send a request to any advertising network or analytics service, and does not contact any third-party domain at all. The typefaces come from our own server rather than a font network.
The one thing we do store
If you use the light and dark theme switch, your choice is saved in your browser's
localStorage under the key ag-theme. That is not a cookie: it is never
sent to our server, it is not readable by any other website, and it holds a single word —
light or dark.
Without it the page would forget your preference on every visit. Clearing your browser data removes it, and blocking site data simply means the page follows your operating system's theme instead.
What the server records
Like every web server, ours writes an access log: IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the referring page and the browser user-agent. That is a server-side record, not something stored on your device, and it is used to run the site and investigate abuse. Details, including how long it is kept, are in the privacy policy.
If this changes
If we ever add analytics or any other non-essential storage, we will ask for your consent before setting anything, and this page will be rewritten before the change goes live rather than after.
